Study with us and learn how to:
Apply codes of practice relating to the care and welfare of fish in aquatic environments in NZ.
Describe and apply the requirements of caring for live fish.
Describe the anatomy and physiology of fish.
Apply correct procedures to develop and maintain an aquarium or other live aquaculture system.
Apply best practice processes for capturing, packaging and transporting live fish.
Describe the signs of abnormal characteristics and behaviours associated with fish diseases.
Select and apply appropriate medications and/or treatments for the control of disease or correction of adverse environmental conditions.
This qualification is an entry point for aquaculture. Use it to kick start your career!
Once qualified you will be able to work under limited supervision in the care of live fish in aquaculture and ornamental fish facilities, Or work independently in a small-scale operation, aquaculture and ornamental fish care.
Upon successful completion of the requirements, you'll be awarded: Aquaculture Fish Industry Skills, Level 3 Microcredential
Intake: Feb, April and August 2023 Duration: 22 weeks, part-time Delivery Format: Blended learning with our tutors coming to your location, which becomes the delivery site. Total credits: 40 Indicative Fees: $900.

Must have access to an aquarium or other live fish holding systems in order to accomplish practical components of the assessment
Access to a computer, internet and Google account
