This 40 hour programme, delivered over two 10 week levels with two hour sessions each week, builds the core thinking skills that make learning, work, and everyday problem solving easier. Learners strengthen their attention, memory, and information processing while developing practical skills in planning, problem solving, and clear communication. Each session uses real life tasks with embedded reading, writing, and numeracy, allowing learners to practise "learning how to learn" in ways that directly support study and work.
Across Levels 1 and 2, learners progress from building foundational skills such as focusing, remembering, and recognising patterns to applying strategies in more complex situations, including following multi step instructions, interpreting tables and charts, making informed decisions, and planning small projects. Throughout the programme, learners are encouraged to reflect on how they think, not just what they know, and to develop a personal "thinking toolkit" that they can use in any course, workplace, or everyday situation.
Thinking Toolkit is designed to complement vocational and foundation training and is particularly valuable for learners who have previously found traditional study challenging.
